Team Description* |
Team AvantGuardium was formed by US and Israeli defense
technology groups, who have been on the forefront in the
development and fielding of operational Unmanned Ground
Vehicles (UGVs) in real world applications. The
AvantGuardium group led by EFW in Fort Worth, includes
Elbit Systems Electro-Optics (ELOP), Elbit Systems Land
and C4, The Elbit Systems and Israel Aerospace Industry
JV for Unmanned Ground Systems and the Ben-Gurion
University, in Israel. The group members bring highly
experienced engineers and scientists in the areas of
robotics, control, electro-optics, computer vision,
artificial intelligence, real-time software, system
engineering and Global Information Systems (GIS).
Meeting the behavioral requirements of autonomous
vehicles in the urban environment, as it is envisioned
by DARPA, requires an enormous leap in the capabilities
of the autonomous vehicle. The team's vehicle “RONIN” is
based on a 2007 Jeep Wrangler which has been converted
to a fully autonomous UGV. The AvantGuardium RONIN has
been created to integrate and demonstrate the latest in
technology providing a significant step forward towards
the leap in technology necessary to meet the DARPA
vision. |
